Dearest Lid

Dato' Syed Abdul Aziz bin Syed Jan AlJaffri
After leaving school, he started his service as a Cadet Assistant Manager of the Tanjung Pau Estate with Harrisons & Crossfield in 1960. Through his years with Harrisons & Crossfield, he rose to the ranks of Assistant Manager, Manager and finally Senior Manager of various estates including the Tanjung Pau, Sogomana, Holyrood, Golden Hope Shelford, Welch, Ladang Laka Temin, Sungai Mahang and Prang Besar estates. He was promoted in 1988 to General Manager of HMPB Fruit Industries Sdn. Bhd. where he oversaw the management of a fruit estate with crops such as guava, passion fruit and kalamasi.
In 1990, he was employed by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Kedah (PKNK) where he served with Ladang Laka Temin and Ladang Perbadanan Kedah Sdn. Bhd. in the capacities of Senior Manager and Acting General Manager respectively. He subsequently joined Greenbelt Plus Sdn. Bhd. as its Planting Adviser in 1994 and in 1997, he was appointed as the Manager of Padang Meha Estate, a position he holds to the present day.

His professional affiliations include membership on the United Planting Association of Malaysia (UPAM) and Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP). He served on the Labour Committee of the UPAM from 1984 to 1988. His voluntary service with the ISP was more extensive having served as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Committee Member of various state branches from 1971 to 1988 and finally as a National Executive Committee Member from 1987 to 1988.

He also serves on the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA) as Chairman of MPOA Kedah Branch from 2002 to 2005. Prior to this, he was appointed as a Committee Member of the MPOA, Kedah Branch in 2001.

His public service record includes service as the Honorary Secretary to District Boys’ Scout Association of Selama, Perak from 1973 to 1975 and service to the Kedah Rugby Union where he has served as the Vice President since 1995. He was also President of Ibrahim School Old Boys’ Association, Sungai Petani from 1981 to 1984. He represented the PKNK on the District Development and Action Committee of Kubang Pasu District, Kedah Darul Aman from 1980 to 1984 and again from 1990 to 1994. He is also a Director of SterilGamma (Kulim) Sdn. Bhd.
